Summary

Litter growth has slowed greatly during the last week. It’s more common than not around this time once Mama leaves the scene which is generally around this time. I suspect there will be a reversion to the mean for this litter over the following weeks when it comes to their weight. It’s a broken record: Mr. Onyx leads the way in the overall and by a longway. Ms. Pearl had the best week.

Pups have been going through alot of changes. Pups are mostly switched over to the nursery and out of the whelping boxes. They are seperated from each other through parts of the day. The two that have handled the separations the best are Mr. Onyx and Mr. Ruby. Neither of those two mind alone time, in or out of a crate. The two girls, Ms. Sapphire and Ms. Pearl will complain for a few minutes after first being in a crate and then settle in. Mr. Emerald hates it altogether. Once a person is not involved, he is unhappy. He is a people pup. He is handler/owner focused to a very high degree. He settles in eventually but it takes much longer.

They get a lot of outdoor time now. They spend alot of time out on a deck we have for them. They like it there.

Car rides have gone perfectly fine for the pups. I was expecting those to be very noisy experiences. They haven’t been at all which has been a surprise. The crate times have been way more noisy and more what I have expected for the car rides. All litters and pups within the litters can be very different from each other with Laekens.

Mr. Ruby takes after his father, Madds in so many ways. He is non-chalant towards people. He neither craves nor despises human attention. He is more interested in learning about things and not so much people or other dogs. His temperament is very much as is prescribed in the breed standard. Physically, he is a vert correct and exquisite example of the breed’s conformation.

Mr. Emerald is a people dog, through and through. He is also the boss of the litter. He is the head of the household’s dog on the hip so to speak. He wants to be involved in whatever his person(s) is doing. He is very intelligent, brave, loyal, and able and lives to do whatever his handler wants him to do. He wants to be the #1 dog in your life. He is definitely not a kennel dog.

Mr. Onyx is now spider-man. He scales walls like no other puppy we have had before him. He likes to explore and he is very confident, strong, and agile. Everytime he climbs out of something, he walks around like he owns the place. He is a show off.

The two girls, Ms. Sapphire and Ms. Pearl have been neck and neck with each other throughout their development from birth. There are only very nuanced differences between the two. Both are very middle of the road in all of their endeavors. They are likely to be easier to live with than the boys. They don’t over achieve in anything or under achieve in anything either. They are just solid girls. They are a pleasure to work with.

A note to all the above, these are belgian puppies still in development. So take all of this with a TON of salt.

Looking Ahead

Looking forward to the upcoming veterinary visit and time out in the public.

Have a good week and God bless.

Note: I will be trying to schedule posts to publish at the same time on days they occur, which right now, is planned to be 7 pm Eastern time. Hope that helps with people looking for them. If a post is ready before 7pm, it will go out that day. If not, it will go out the next day at 7pm. There might be multiple posts come out at that time on those days.
