Summary: Mr. Onyx has taken a rather commanding lead over Ms. Pearl and Mr. Ruby. He is up by 4.7% over the rest of the field. Our average Laekenois litter gains 84.55% during the first week. This litter gained 120.7% in it’s first week. Our average Laekenois litter has an average week 1 weight of 24.37 ounces while this litter is at 26.18 ounces. This litter has had a fantastic first week. I attribute this to the smaller litter size that’s given the puppies a bit more resources to work with.
Mama is doing well and eating well. She has good body composition. She has plenty of good milk for the pups.
Puppy Development: Puppies are walking and they are regulating their own body temperatures now. We are still keeping their environment warm though. Puppies are not experiencing any fear when exploring with or without Mama near by. For the first few days, Mama was a bit apprehensive when we would work with the pups, but not now. The pups are getting to where they don’t mind being handled by humans (wiggling and noise is going down) when being weighed and being given neurostimulation. Sight and sound are still to come for these pups.

The above litter report for a prior litter is actually for 10 days. The reason for that is that we just do these summaries on Mondays. For the current litter, it was whelped on a Monday so the first week summary numbers are for 7 days.
