Summary: Mr. Onyx continues to lead the way overall from Week 1 and his female counterpart in the overall is Ms. Pearl. Mr. Emerald, the smallest puppy, had the largest percentage gain for the week at a whooping 69.4%. No other puppy was close to that. It was not unexpected. Our average Laekenois litter gains 49.22% during the second week. This litter gained 58.8% in it’s second week. Our average Laekenois litter has an average week 2 weight of 35.4 ounces while this litter is at 41.57 ounces. This litter has had a fantastic first two weeks. Again, I attribute this to the smaller litter size that’s given the puppies a bit more resources to grow from.
Mama is still doing well and eating well and is in good shape to continue to take care of the babies. To date, no supplementation by us humans has been used and we don’t see that changing for at least a few days and maybe not until we are in to week 3.
Puppy Development: All puppies have both eyes wide open. Coordination is improving and they are getting better at walking. Muscle tone looks good. Nails were clipped for the first time. They now have responses to auditory stimuli. Coat quality is really nice on this bunch. Full and thick coats on all. About mid week, they began to play with Mama and each other. They have also started to tolerate, and dare I say even enjoy, human contact. They also might be a bit ticklish too. When you tickle their tummies or chest, their feet wiggle..
